In mid March my bartending shifts dried up, I didn’t know how long the pandemic would last or how I would make money to pay rent and support myself. I decided to ask for a rent reduction, it was refused by my property manager, I was told to get centrelink. I had to move out of the flat I shared with two other people in and move in with my sister to save money. I have now found a much more affordable house further from the city, with jobkeeper I can pay rent, groceries and weather the unexpected expenses that keep appearing related to day to day living in a pandemic. I am extremely concerned about the reduction to Jobkeeper and Jobseeker, as well as the inadequate supplement to those on student and disability payments. I have been fully stood dawn for months. I have applied for 57 jobs and received no response. How are we supposed to work or attain a second job when no one is hiring? Keep and extend the Jobkeeper and Jobseeker rates we are all doing our best to look after each other and prevent the spread of Covid19, the very least our government can do is support us to prevent further infections
